1993 VOLVO 940 (WAGON)

Post by Alpharius »

Year: 1993
Make: Volvo
Model: 940 (Wagon)
Engine: 4200
Transmission: CD009 or T56 Magnum-F
Rear axle / ratio: Volvo 1041 (4.10)
Turbo: UNK
ECU: UNK
Boost: UNK
Other supporting mods: 30-spline rear axle shafts

Posting this here for my own accountability. I have acquired a 1993 Volvo 940, and I plan to 4200 swap and manual swap it. I'm sure this will take a relatively long time, which I am ok with but, without rushing: the sooner the better. This will be my first swap and understand I am new to building, but I know I can learn anything. Really looking forward to learning and trying not to break much along the way!

Overall plan for the build is to make her into a weekend toy. Sometimes bring her to the track, sometimes ride the highway on a weekend. Power goals are 450-550WHP after supporting upgrades. I want to be as hands on as I can be to be able to know everything that has been done or at least 90% of it. Im pretty sure I want to do a 08-09 4200 so I can have a bit of an easier time with supporting parts and im still researching turbos, ECUs and things like that. I DO need to convert from automatic pedals to manual, im unsure what platform I want to use as well, but I have been looking at the Tilton 600 series pedals, but I would be open to a 4L80-E, so long as it can handle that power band and would fit with proper trans tunnel massaging.

Very much looking forward to learning, turning wrenches and getting more education as I go.

Absolutely!

Just about ready to go, sourcing my 4200 atm so I can get started with teardown and rebuild.

Hell, I see 4200's all the time but Im way over in Indiana, not Colorado.

Though I did get married out there at "lookout point", I think we stayed in Evergreen, at COlorado Bear Creek Cabins. Was a good time for sure. I flew last time so I dont think they will let me put a 4200 in checked baggage lmao.

Sometimes you just have to stack it all up first, then you can just get after it when you can.

Keep updating as you go.
